Mexico Day 1

We flew from SLC to Fort Lauderdale but because of our first flight delay barely had enough time to run to the next gate, take a potty break and board our next flight to Cancun. Most of us were able to sleep a little on the fights.  Once we arrived in Cancun and walked outside it was like a wall of heat hit us!  It was insane how hot and humid it was!  We quickly found our bus and headed to Playa Del Carmen to our hotel.  About half of us slept on the bus and the other half were fascinated with the buildings and vegetation.  Once at our hotel we were greeted with cold drinks while they checked us in and got all of our arrangements made.

Once we got our bags in our rooms we changed into our swimsuits and hurried down to the buffet since we hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch we were all pretty hangery by this point ;).  The kids were pretty excited to discover the buffet was unlimited and had a HUGE variety!  After that we headed to the pool to relax and veg the rest of the day.  I won't lie Saturday is pretty much a blur because of pure exhaustion; not sure I would take an over night flight again.

We were fascinated by the hotel!  All the common areas were open, so they had a roof and maybe one wall but the other 3 sides (if even one side had a wall) didn't have walls.  There were tons of animals at our hotel which was actually kind of cool during the day and they would just wonder through the sidewalks, and even the bar, buffet areas occasionally.  I say during the day because come every morning about 5:30 a.m. the peacocks and howler monkeys (we started to call it the peacock alarm) became a bit annoying ;).  The animals at the hotel were pretty cool but also the all inclusive, which is something we have never experienced before, was so fun!  We have never drank so many fruity, slushy drinks in our lives as we did while we were there!!  I think we might have got our moneys worth in ice cream cones, desserts and drinks haha!

I HATED the Iguanas, they were sneaky little suckers
and blended in too well!
Flamingos
There were lots of peacocks and they were probably the least shy of all the animals!
One charged poor Haylee, they would walk through the buffet, pool and bar area a a lot!
An agouti, there were tons of these running around everywhere
The baby howler monkeys
A Coatis - Mexican Racoon we only saw a couple of these

The vegetation was so beautiful

The towels were one of the girls many highlights about the hotel
