Happy Birthday Kabree

Our beautiful Kabree turned 7 today!  Both girls were excited for more birthday festivities!  Kabree was so excited to take a treat to school (chocolate chip cookies) and have her friends sing "Happy Birthday" to her.  We started off the day with her present from Keagan and a gift from us.  Keagan gave her clip on earrings but much to Kabree's dismay they were broken :(.  This is why we let her open a present from Dad and Mom too.  She was so excited to have her very own Fitbit and to be able to show everyone at school what she got!
Kabree LOVES doing her dolls hair and her own hair so she wanted a make up, hair, finger nail polish birthday party.  Grandma Jane made the cake and cupcakes and our photo booth props made another appearance!  For dinner she asked for chicken salad sandwiches, chips and a caramel, toffee cake.  We had so much fun celebrating our beautiful blue eyed girl and couldn't love her more if we tried!!!  We love you Kabs!!!

Today I was reminded why we first chose to have open adoptions!  I was on the verge of tears talking to Teri about my appreciation and love for Spencer and Keri.  They answered our prayers and made us parents!  We are so glad that Teri, Mark and Cindi were able to join us on Kabree's birthday.  We miss Keri and Spencer so much but are so grateful for their parents.  Teri and Cindi are so loving and not only love and care for Kabree, but Keagan as well.  Nothing means more to a Mom then seeing their kids smile with love as they see someone.  My girls are surrounded by so many people who love them and would do anything for them and that my heart fills full!  As sappy as it sounds adoption truly is all about love!

Happy Birthday Keagan

Our beautiful Keagan turned 4 today!  She was so excited from the moment she woke up she asked "Whens my party?  Is it my party yet?".  All day long she asked "Is it still my birthday?".  We started the day off with her present from Kabree; a doctor set, and she played with it all day!  She enjoyed macaroni and cheese for lunch and couldn't wait for Kabree to come home from school to play with her.
This girl is obsessed with mustaches the last few months so of coarse she wanted a mustache birthday party!  Grandma Jane made the cake, got us photo booth props and the mustache balloons! Keagan LOVED all of it!!!  For dinner she asked for her favorite foods; pretzel bites, popcorn and caramel brownies.  She loved having lots of "patients" to try out her Doctor set on!  We had so much fun celebrating our beautiful brown eyed girl and couldn't love her more if we tried!!!  We love you Kiki!!!

The girls birthdays are always emotional for me.  The fact that my babies are not babies anymore and are growing way to fast, but also the memories of the days they were born.  Open Adoption is an emotional, ugly, rewarding, beautiful thing all wrapped into one.  Words could never express my love and appreciation for Jesse and Heather and for all the sacrifices they made that made us Keagans parents.  Open adoption can be a wonderful blessing, but it's hard and sometimes one side is on a different page than the other.  It's like the rest of life; a constant balancing act.  We truly missed Heather but are glad that Jesse and Annika were able to come celebrate Keagan with us.
