Overall
I'm so glad we got to go on this trip.  We have worked really hard as a family for the last 2-3 years saving up for it.  I'm so proud of our girls for working towards this goal and sacrificing going with friends sometimes to eat out or going to Outerlimits so they could put that money towards our trip. With our new living situation we rarely get time just the 4 of us and it was so nice to get to spend so much time together just our little family!

What we learned from this trip
  • Going from 16 degree weather to 79 degree weather feels brutal.
  • It's fun to visit but we would never want to live in California.
  • Not all hotels have microwaves and fridges.
  • Motion sickness wrist bands really do work.
  • You should wear motion sickness wrist bands in the car and on rides as well as the plane.
  • Ziplocks work great as puke bags.
  • Good shoes are a must when going to Disneyland/California Adventures.
  • Metal water bottles are a must when in California.
  • Those tiny rocks you feel on your feet when walking in the ocean are actually tiny clams.
  • Having a husband willing to take your clothes to the laundry mat to get them all washed in one shot is amazing!
  • Washing your clothes the last night makes for a wonderful (way less stressful) unpacking experience!
We are so grateful we were able to have such a great vacation! No one got hurt or lost, both girls had great attitudes about the heat and all of the lines! It was so much fun!

Tarbet's California Adventure Day 5

We started Wednesday off with a quick visit at an outdoor mall with Spencer and Keri.

The mall had tons of cool murals and this awesome chalkboard
Huntington Beach
After our visit we headed to Huntington Beach.  I won't lie we were all so tired and so ready to be home at this point that we were tempted to skip the beach and just go sleep in the airport.  I'm so glad we didn't!  Because it was January and 65 degrees so we saw only 6 people on the beach.  The girls were so excited and LOVED it!  We waded down the beach and collected sea shells.  We enjoyed a snack on the beach...until I realized we were being swarmed.  I HATE birds, I have a fear of them so it stressed me out so bad that they were all around us waiting for us to drop something and if you did they would jump in and grab it!  The girls wanted to see what the little birds kept running out to grab when the water went out.  They were so excited to find so many tiny clams!  The girls and I did venture a little deeper out before calling it quits.

After the beach we were starving and were tired of trying new things so Zach found us a Chick-Fil-A.  We sat in the restaurant and played a travel game which is just what we needed before heading to the airport.  We got to the airport 4 hours early which was so nice, we took our time going through security, found a candy store to get some treats and watched our ipads until it was time for our flight.  The girls fell asleep with in a few minutes of take off, I'm so grateful they did because it was a ROUGH flight.  The whole flight was ROUGH but landing was HORRID!  Several people were pretty stressed out from the whole flight so by the time we got to Salt Lake and had to try to land twice most peoples nerves were pretty shot.  I just kept reassuring myself that there were 3 other pilots on the plane and none of them had ran into the cockpit yet so it must  not be THAT bad yet lol!  Needless to say Zach and I were wide awake and pretty strung by the time our plane landed so we both just wanted to get home!  It stormed all Wednesday afternoon/night so we had to drive to Pocatello again to then drive to Arbon.  The roads were great from Salt Lake to Pocatello and not too bad from Pocatello to Arbon, they were a bit rough from the school to home but we made it home just after 5 a.m.
Seriously the girls were so awesome and so cute going through the airport

Tarbet's California Adventure Day 4

Sea World
Day 4 we headed off for San Diego to see Sea World.  We love Zoos and Aquariums so we knew we would love it!  We didn't realize that Sea World has rides, so we tried out the swings...Keagan and I walked by them and apparently caught them at the very end because we saw them and they were low to the ground and going slow so we both decided to give them a try...they weren't low and they weren't slow!  Surprisingly Keagan loved it and wanted to go again, not surprisingly they made me sick!  The shows were so amazing and you can't help but cheer and smile as you watch them.  The girls LOVED them.  We did sit in the "splash zone" for both shows but we sat high enough up in the "splash zone" we never got wet.  The girls were pretty disappointed about that.    When we signed up through our travel agency they suggested we go for the meal deal while at Sea World.  We ended up paying $10 per person to get it and then we could get a meal (sandwich or main coarse of some kind and fries), a side (chips, fruit or veggie cups or desserts) and a drink every hour all day.  So needless to say we got our moneys worth lol.  We made sure to grab at least a drink and side or dessert every single hour per person!  We tried LOTS of food and went home with LOTS of bottled water.

Orange chicken
Rotisserie Chicken and BBQ ribs with waffle fries
Keagan loved the chicken strips
Chocolate cake with Oreo pudding/frosting....so yummy

Cheeseburger with bacon and onion rings on it and seasoned waffle fries...my favorite of the day
