My Mom's family had a reunion this weekend.  We get together with my Mom's immediate family only once a year and their is only 10 grandkids (5 of which are my Mom's) so it has been years since we have gotten together with my Grandpa's siblings.  My Grandma has been wanting to do this for a long time and my Aunt Lori worked her tiny behind off organizing the food and games for everyone.  She did a great job, the food was great and the kids loved all the activities she had for them.  It was 104 degrees but that didn't stop them from running around like crazy.  It was great as always to see my cousins and all their cute kiddos.
I just have to add that we went out to my parents house after and my Mom's one cousin and his wife were staying with them.  My Mom's cousins wife Lori was the sweetest person ever, she was so good with Kabree and when Zach came in from working she was hurrying around the kitchen making sure everyone was getting something to eat.  I was trying to hurry and get Kab and I changed into work clothes and make my Dad a lunch in time to meet him at the HWY and she jumped right in and started making his lunch and finding ice for his drink.  Anyways, I was so impressed and she couldn't have been any more helpful or nicer.

We have been very fortunate to have an open adoption with Kabree's birth-family.  Some people are a little skeptical but like I tell everyone it's not for everyone and you have to go with your gut.  For us we feel that it's great to have an open adoption.  We keep in contact through texting and we try to see each other when we can, sometimes a lot sometimes not as much, just depends on what we all have going on.  We have been lucky to live in neighboring towns with our birth-parents.  However, we are very excited for them to be making a move that they feel is great for them, but we are sad to not be able to see them as often.  We were able to have one last BBQ at our house and attend Paedyn and Kalin's (Kabree's biological sister and brother) birthday parties before they left.  Kabree comes from two great biological families, they are all so welcoming and friendly, we love seeing them and are so grateful that Kabree will see what amazing families she came from.

Our nieces and nephew had the fair this week, so Kabree and I decided to take Hanna and Justice with us to go show our support.  Kabree, Justice and Hanna all enjoyed just running up and down the bleachers with Mattie, Makenna and Morgan.  The kids all did great and we enjoyed being able to watch them.  We of coarse stayed to enjoy fair food with them after they finished showing.  My Mom entered some of her photos this year and won 1st place in one category and won 2nd place in the other category.  It was great to spend time with everyone and we are so proud of all of them!

Could this be a sign our paralyzing fear of cows is in the past???

Kabree got to perform in her very first Tiny Tot Rodeo!  Getting ready she was very excited and was running around the house with her stick horse Pal yelling "yee haw!!!".  When it came time to call the kids down to the arena Kabree was very excited carrying her stick horse in.  They had to hang out for a bit before it started, that about killed Little Miss, she really had a hard time, she kept running around the arena saying "I want to ride".  By the time they started (probably only 10 minutes but to a 2 year old it might as well have been an eternity) she was mad.  To make matters worse she ended up being the first contestant up too.  For her first event they had to run up to a hay bale and grab a pink ribbon and run back, she didn't really understand what she was supposed to do and when Zach tried to help her she got MAD, so Zach just picked her up and ran for her, that made her really MAD.  But then after she saw the other kids doing it she wanted to do it and kept saying "my turn".  Hanna and Justice ran it like they were pros.
Her next even was the barrels, this time Hanna got to go first so Kabree was super excited for her turn.  When Kabree was up she took it serious she was very intent on making her horse run (yes her stick horse), she was yelling "yee haw...giddy up boy" and whipping her rains; but that darn horse just kept walking ; ).  Now remember Kabree's stick horse is made from a noodle so it is kind of big and hard for a two year old to run with between their legs.  Needless to say she was trying her hardest, having a blast, but no matter how hard she whipped her rains her horse still went a very slow walk.  By the time she got to the second barrel Zach decided for the sack of everyone else he better pick her up and run the barrels with her, Kabree was still smiles even though he did it but when they got done and he set her down she yelled "hey, I want to do it".
The kids had a blast and loved the big blue ribbons they got.  Hanna got 4th place in both events so she got medals!  After the kids were done we walked through the animals and enjoyed some yummy fair food.  Kabree thought the animals were pretty neat and even pet a steer!  I guess only time will tell if this is a sign that her fear of cows is lessening.  We had so much fun and are very proud of Kabree for the great job she did.  We feel pretty lucky to be the parents of such a cute cowgirl!
